'More' Surgery Isn't Always The Best Option - My Philosophy: Facial Structure Over Excessive Surgeries
If you’ve scrolled through TikTok, Instagram, or beauty forums lately, you’ve probably seen buzz about deep plane facelifts. It’s promoted as the gold standard for dramatic facial rejuvenation.
But here’s the catch: not every surgeon agrees it’s the right choice for everyone. And my biggest take? Sometimes, more surgery isn’t always better.
Is the deep-plane facelift a reliable technique for all facial rejuvenation procedures?
“The deep–plane face lift is a surgical technique that is not suitable for all face types and should be limited to very specific and more restrictive cases. “
What is it about celebrities that allows them to maintain such strikingly sharp jawlines?
Not because they had their submandibular gland cut in half.
Not because their digastric muscle was removed.
Not because their platysma muscle was pulled and repositioned.
Their definition is usually based on good structure, healthy skin texture, and proper positioning, rather than solely on extreme surgical maneuvers.
“My goal is to get people as happy as I can with the least amount of surgery possible.”

When Is a Deep Plane Facelift Indicated?
Let’s clarify: I am not suggesting that the deep plane facelift is an inferior option in any way. In fact, there are many skilled surgeons who have mastered this technique and consistently achieve outstanding results.
The deep plane facelift, which involves lifting the deeper structures of the face, can provide a natural and long-lasting outcome for patients.
But a deep plane facelift is:
A big commitment
A lot of money
A longer recovery
A serious relationship with your surgeon
It’s important to recognize that the effectiveness of this procedure often depends on the expertise of the surgeon performing it, as well as the individual needs and anatomical considerations of each patient.
That’s why I always encourage patients to:
Do their research
Talk to multiple surgeons
Compare approaches before committing
Facial Rejuvenation Is Not a One-Size-Fits-All-Solution
The deep plane facelift has its place—but great results don’t always require the most invasive option.
Before making a decision, schedule a consultation to explore:
- What realistic results look like for your structure
Whether you’re a candidate for less-invasive options
How to balance expectations, downtime, costs, and outcomes
Discover an approach that puts you—not the latest trend—at the center of the plan.
