FAQ: What is the recovery time of Buccal Fat Removal or Jawline Sculpting

What is the Recovery Time?

This is my most common question I get.  Likely because it is my most common procedure that I perform.  Essentially it is 5-7 days.

It does depend on what you personally consider “downtime and recovery”.  Think wisdom teeth removal. For the first week people that know you (wife / husband / girlfriend / boyfriend) will think you look a bit different and puffy. After that first week people that don’t know you won’t think anything of it.

Zoom and other video conference calls should be good by day 5 typically.

What can you do?

You can eat whatever is not painful (I suture it water tight). I actually like it when people exercise lightly the next day.

What can you eat drink?

Don’t take aspirin, fish oil or use Marijuana the day before the surgery.

Alcohol? I have had patients ask me when they can drink beer and alcohol. I ask them to wait at least a few days and rinse their mouths with mouth rinse.

The results take a good 3-6 months to set in because the swelling replaces what I removed. I often have people massage and will do some lasering to maximize the tightening.
